There are many forests surrounding Konoha, and even more within the surrounding lands. However, one forest in particular stands out from the rest. It is often called "The Black Forest," or, "The Forest of Sin." These are not its proper names, not nearly. Its true name is, "The Forest Of Silence." Its visage is that of a black and twisted place, but that is only on the outside. Inside....Inside.....Some things are best not discovered. There is a large rock jutting from the ground near the forest, a warning carved into it for all to see.
"Whomever is unfortunate enough or fool enough to come here: Take heed before entering this place of nightmares. True, the shadows that lurk behind every obstacle can drive one mad....But it is the silence which is truly to be feared." The fools who ignore the gracious warning that was bestowed upon them were never seen again. There screams only echoed for but a fleeting moment.
------
Deep within the innermost reaches of the forest, Zaiaku stands by a glassy black pond, unmoving. The forest around him is black and twisted, allowing no light to enter below the trees' gnarled branches. Shadows lurk just beyond every tree, the sheer magnitude of silence enough to drive a lesser man to the brink of sanity.
There is a light mist that crawls along the forest floor here, which only adds to the ominous feeling this entire area radiates. Even the forest of death cannot match up to this, this....place from one's nightmares.
"......It seems fitting, that I am here." The sound that escaped Zaiaku's lips is crushed by the silence shortly after, leaving no lingering noise to disturb it.
The black surface of the pond next to Zaiaku ripples ever so slightly, disturbing the surface that was, before, smooth as glass. He turns his head slightly, looking at the seemingly normal event. He walks slowly toward the pond, stepping onto the surface. The ripples cease soon after, leaving Zaiaku standing on the once again glassy surface.
Sometimes, that saying has a bit of truth to it. Silence is deafening.
